Why “Mom”?
A little experience, a little honesty, and someone in your corner.
Over the years, some of our—ahem—more experienced staff members have been affectionately called the “Clemson mom.” Others have earned the same kind of nickname in the communities and markets they serve. We loved what it represented, so we ran with it.
“Mom” is the spirit of this guide: someone local who has seen a lot, will remind you what to ask, give you an honest answer, and wants you to find the right home. The guide is for students, parents, families, and anyone navigating Clemson housing.
A transparent note about our bias

Clemson Housing Mom was created by the team behind Crawford Edge, so we want to be transparent: we are naturally biased toward our own community. We believe in Crawford Edge, and we hope it will be the right choice for 128 Clemson students. But we also know that most students who use this guide will ultimately live somewhere else.
Our experience managing communities across multiple markets has taught us that the best-marketed apartment is not always the best-managed apartment. Great photographs, amenities, advertising, and online reviews can help begin a search, but they do not always reveal how well a community takes care of its residents.
Our goal is to help students and families look beyond the marketing, ask better questions, understand the true costs, and recognize communities and management teams that provide a genuinely positive living experience.
If this guide helps thousands of students make better housing decisions—even when they do not choose Crawford Edge—we will consider it a success. And, of course, we hope 128 of them decide Crawford Edge is the right home for them.
